Plainfield Town Court

The Plainfield Town Court is a court of limited jurisdiction, where traffic infractions, ordinance violations and criminal misdemeanor cases are heard and decided.

Judge:

The Honorable James D. Spencer has served as the judge of Plainfield Town Court since July 24, 1989.  He is also a practicing attorney and focuses his civil practice on construction and engineering related matters, and estate planning and administration.  He received his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Illinois and his J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law.  Judge Spencer is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana City & Town Court Judges Association.

Hon. James D. Spencer has also served as the President of the Indiana City & Town Court Judges Association.

Court Schedule:

  • Trials, Guilty Plea, Review, Probation Violation and Initial Hearings on criminal misdemeanor and infraction cases are held on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m.
  • Trials and Initial Hearings on ordinance violation cases are held the First Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
  • The Plainfield Town Court is not in session on the 5th Tuesday of any month.
